The Doctoral Training Centre ensures that doctoral students at the University of Sussex will have access to the best possible advanced training.

Award amount
Scholarships cover university fees and a maintenance allowance (currently £14,057)
Eligibility
Applicants must hold at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree, or equivalent. The studentships will be awarded for a period of either three years for those with an ESRC recognised research training qualification or equivalent (+3), or four years (1+3) for those without.
Studentships will include UK/EU fees and in the case of UK students will also include a maintenance grant (for information the 2015-16 rate is £14,057 per annum). EU students will usually only be eligible for a fees-only award. EU students are also eligible for the maintenance grant (at the same rate as UK students) when they have been living in the UK for three years prior to the start of the course. Studentships are paid pro rata for part time students.

The application procedure and deadlines will be advertised in October 2015, for studentships starting in September 2016. You will need to apply and be accepted for a place on a 1+3 or doctoral degree at Sussex before you can apply for the scholarship.
