Thanks to the generosity of our North American alumni and the Friends of the University of Sussex, a scholarship of an amount equivalent to $10,000 is available to nationals or permanent residents of the USA who will be studying a one year taught Master's degree course at the University of Sussex.
The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit.

Eligibility
In order to be considered for the USA Friends Scholarship you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a national or permanent resident of the United States of America
- Have applied for and been offered a place on a full time Postgraduate Taught degree at the University of Sussex (MA, MSc, LLM, Dip Grad)
- Have been assessed as paying overseas fees
- Intend to remain on the programme for which the scholarship is offered.
You will not be eligible for this scholarship if you meet any of the following exclusions:
- Have applied for a course at the Institute of Development Studies except the MA Gender and Development
- Have applied to study MSc Automotive Engineering (you should consult funding opportunities at the University of Brighton)
- Have applied to study a joint Social Research Methods + DPhil (1+3) course
- Have applied to study a Foundation Year, Postgraduate Certificate, International Year One Diploma in Business and Management or Pre-Masters
- Have applied to study Pre-Masters courses and diplomas taught at partner colleges
- Have applied to study the Masters in Business Administration or Masters in Education
- Have applied for a course within the Brighton and Sussex Medical School
