The details below relate to the 2015 Scholarship. Details of the 2016 Scholarship will be announced in Autumn.
The University is delighted to announce the launch of an unlimited number of enhanced scholarships of £10,000 for Sussex students admitted to full-time Master's degree courses in September 2015. The scholarships are jointly funded by the government and the University, and confirm Sussex's position as one of the UK's leading universities for postgraduate study.
The enhanced scholarships are available for admission in 2015 only and are based on progression from an undergraduate course where students have paid the higher tuition fee, in operation since 2012/13. Additionally, the University has provided funding to make enhanced scholarships available to international students at Sussex.
In line with our sector leading Masters scholarship offer in 2014 we will continue to offer an unlimited number of standard scholarships at £3,000 and £2,000 for Sussex students admitted to full-time Master's degree courses in September 2015.

No, the Sussex Graduate Scholarship can only be held at the University of Sussex.
2. If I am a current Sussex student am I eligible?
Yes, all current Sussex students (UK/EU and non-EU) are eligible for this award if graduating in 2015 and progressing directly to a full-time, eligible Masters degree in 2015. If you want to defer your place, it is not possible to defer the scholarship, as it is for direct progression only.
3. I am an overseas student for fee purposes am I eligible to apply?
Yes, all current Sussex students (UK/EU and non-EU) are eligible for this award if graduating in 2015 and progressing directly to a full-time, eligible Masters degree in 2015. If you want to defer your place, it is not possible to defer the scholarship, as it is for direct progression only.
4. If I am offered a Sussex Graduate Scholarship but defer my place at Sussex, can the scholarship be carried over to the next year?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to carry over the scholarship to another year. However, if you intend to defer and hold a first-class honours degree from a UK University and meet our entrance requirements you may be eligible for the Chancellors Masters Scholarship.
If you are classified as an overseas student for fee-paying purposes and hold a good degree, you may wish to apply for one of the 25 Chancellors International Scholarships available for postgraduate taught study at Sussex.
5. If I apply for a part-time Masters degree am I eligible?
No, the Sussex Graduate Scholarship is only available for full-time study. The scholarship is intended to enable students to complete their Masters course within one year, by reducing the fee to approximately the equivalent of the part-time fee for the first year. This enables students to save the living expenses that would otherwise be incurred in a second year and to complete the degree more quickly.
6. If I have funding from another source can I also receive the Sussex Graduate Scholarship?
Yes - the scholarships are available to funded and self-financing students. However, there are some exceptions:
•You cannot be in receipt of this award and any other University of Sussex funded scholarship (including the Chancellor's International Scholarship, the Chancellor's Masters Scholarship, the Economic and Social Development Scholarship, the Fulbright Scholarship, the HESPAL scholarship, the Shawcross Scholarship or the Sussex Country Scholarships).
•You cannot be in receipt of this award and research council funding i.e. as part of the ESRC funded 1+3 scheme.
If you receive an additional fee waiver from a School or department at the University the total amount of the combined fee waivers cannot exceed the total amount of the tuition fee.
7. Is the Sussex Graduate Scholarship available to study at research (PhD) level?
No - however, there are scholarships for research students. There are 10 Chancellors International Research Scholarships available for non-EU students and a range of options for UK/EU students intending on doctoral study. Details are on our Funding Database.
8. Do I need to apply for the Sussex Graduate Scholarship?
There is no formal application process for the scholarship, however, you must apply for admission to an eligible Masters course by 1 August 2015 and indicate online that you wish to receive this scholarship, if you are made an offer of a place. Apply for a Masters online here.

If you receive a scholarship of £10,000 and your tuition fee is more than £10,000 your fee will be adjusted when you register and you will be liable to pay the remainder.
