Sussex Research launches new Strategic Competition

Sussex Research - a new structure designed to foster cross-campus collaborative research and develop specific research projects within disciplines – has today launched a new Strategic Competition designed to identify a key interdisciplinary programme into which substantial investment is made. The result of this investment, likely to be between £1million and £3million over three to five years, is intended to be the creation of a world-leading research programme that considerably enhances Sussex’s international reputation.  The purpose of the competition is to create a critical mass in a particular area across a range of disciplines which would place the University in an exceptionally strong position with regard to securing external funding.

Proposals could focus on activity that brings together existing strengths or develops an emerging area by adding capacity.

There will be a two-stage application process with first-stage outline applications being submitted by 5pm 31 January 2014.

To discuss ideas and potential applications to this competition, contact Professor Alan Lester, Director of Interdisciplinary Research at a.j.lester@sussex.ac.uk
