  • Our range of courses builds on Sussex’s strong foundation of interdisciplinary study, encompassing corporate risk management, entrepreneurship, international finance, and international and innovation management.

The Department of Business and Management has expertise in finance and banking. 

MPhil, PhD in Management 

The Department of Business and Management has expertise in accounting, marketing, international business, strategy, organisational behaviour, entrepreneurship, human resource management, supply chain management and operations management. 

MPhil, PhD in Technology and Innovation Management

You are based in SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit, the longest-established and largest academic centre studying science, technology and innovation in the world.

Research training 

Although all our MPhil and PhD degrees are assessed by thesis, you are also expected to attend statistics and research methods modules. Other modules may also be recommended to fill gaps in your knowledge.

The University’s Doctoral School runs a wide range of training courses covering the needs of students throughout all phases of their studies.

Apart from an academic career, a research degree in finance prepares you for working in a variety of financial institutions. The career destinations of our PhD graduates include senior portfolio manager at Cambridge Strategy, proprietary trader for Millenium Capital, VP commodities quant research at JP Morgan, head
