Business and Management

The Jubilee Building

As part of the School of Business, Management and Economics, the Department of Business and Management is enormously proud to be located in Sussex’s newest academic building, opened in September 2012.

The £29 million Jubilee Building was named in honour of the University’s golden jubilee, which took place in 2012. It was designed by the architects ADP, who wished to complement the surrounding iconic Sussex architecture, as well as create a building that was visually stunning in its own right.

The design also prioritised sustainability, with many energy efficient features leading to it being granted a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.

On top of the main lecture theatre is a grass covered roof terrace (with great views of campus) and the building opens onto an impressive piazza, right in the heart of the Sussex grounds.

Inside, the facilities are superb, including a 500 seat lecture theatre (the largest on campus), a smaller 60-seat lecture theatre, 10 seminar rooms, a PC cluster room, study space for taught students and PGRs, a café/social space with adjacent flexible workspace, and 120 offices.

The audio-visual technology in the seminar rooms is state of the art, advised by consultant Douglas Bolton.

It is a fantastic place to study and work.
