2015 Young Finance Scholars' Conference delegates receive keynote speech from top City fund manager

Delegates of the second annual Young Finance Scholars' (YFS) Conference - hosted by the Department of Business and Management's Accounting and Finance group on 25 and 26 June 2015 - enjoyed a keynote speech from Sussex alumnus and Chief Investment Officer for Global Equities at Fidelity, Dominic Rossi (Politics 1982).
The conference was a huge success, attracting PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and other young finance scholars to present their research to finance experts from across the UK and abroad. Sessions focusing on corporate governance, corporate and quantitative finance, trading, risk and investments were chaired by academics from Sussex - including Professors Carol Alexander, John Forker and Ranko Jelic - as well as colleagues from the universities of Southampton, Middlesex, Cardiff, Kent, Zurich and Imperial College London.
Keynote speech from Dominic Rossi
In his superbly delivered talk focused on corporate governance, Dominic Rossi described the complete transformation that has taken place in the financial regulatory environment since the recession and stressed the increasing importance of compliance and corporate governance in asset management, as well as the need for the numbers and the quality of these professionals to grow in the future.
In an effort to encourage greater numbers of graduates into the profession, Dominic generously funds the Hornsey Scholarship aimed at British students undertaking the MSc in International Accounting and Corporate Governance.
