Research on international business strategy aims to inform Japanese investment in Czech Republic
Dr Norifumi Kawai (Lecturer in International Business) will present his research on the strategic importance of Japanese, Korean and Chinese multinational corporations in Europe to the President of the Czech Republic, along with some of the country's key government and industry figures, at two prestigious events in March.
One of the main goals of the meetings is to inform the activities of Japanese investors in the Czech Republic and compare these with investors from the People’s Republic of China and Republic of Korea. Dr Kawai will present his research on Japanese, Korean and Chinese multinational enterprises in Europe: Strategy, structure, and performance.
Invited by the Japanese Embassy in the Czech Republic, Dr Kawai will first give a seminar to Japanese, German and French diplomats and ambassadors.
The following day, Dr Kawai will then participate in a round-table discussion on investment by Japanese companies as well as give a talk on his comparative analysis of the impact of Japanese multinational corporations on the Czech economy.
The President of the Czech Republic, Minister of Industry and Trade, Minister of Regional Development, the Japanese Ambassador in the Czech Republic as well as CEOs of Japanese multinational companies in the country - notably Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Toyota - will be present.
This event has been organised by the Japanese Exchange Trade Organisation, in co-ordination with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Czech Republic, as a follow-up to a Czech delegation visit to Japan.
The volume of Japanese foreign direct investment into the Czech Republic ranks second only to Germany. There are some 232 Japanese companies in the country, investing $3 billion and employing over 44,000 Czechs.
