Sussex finance expert appointed to Greek Ministry of Finance

The Greek government has appointed a Sussex finance expert as Secretary General of Fiscal Policy in the Hellenic Ministry of Finance.
Emmanuel Mamatzakis, Professor of Finance in the Department of Business and Management, will advise the government on public finance issues, including negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, the European Union and the European Central Bank. He will work closely with the country's Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Finance.
Professor Mamatzakis is a leading academic in financial markets and public finance. His new appointment follows a prior position as Senior Economist on the Hellenic Council of Economic Advisors.
