New paper explores enhancing engagement in voluntary organisations
Prof Katie Bailey (Professor of Management) has co-authored a new paper looking at the effect of active engagement on volunteers within voluntary organisations, published in VOLUNTAS, the International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organisations.
The paper - titled 'Enhancing Volunteer Engagement to Achieve Desirable Outcomes: What Can Non-profit Employers Do?' and written with Kerstin Alfes (Tilburg University) and Amanda Shantz (IÉSEG School of Management) - finds from a study of 1,064 volunteers working for a UK wildlife charity that 'task- and emotion-oriented organisational support were positively related to volunteer engagement'.
