School of Business, Management and Economics to receive full EFMD membership

As of Tuesday 2 June 2015, the University of Sussex School of Business, Management and Economics (BMEc) is confirmed to become a full member European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the largest international network for management development.

This membership will give the School’s profile a significant boost and place BMEc firmly alongside some of the most competitive business institutions around the world. The EFMD network includes over 825 institutional members and reaches over 25,000 management development professionals from across academia, business, public service and consultancy in 83 countries worldwide.

The network also works to promote and enhance academic publications, the Business School Impact Survey (BSIS), doctoral research awards and responsible leadership.

Head of School Prof Steven McGuire said:

“Gaining EFMD membership is a fantastic achievement for the School and is just the first step towards accomplishing our many longer term goals. EFMD operates the highly respected European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) - one of the world’s leading international systems of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation for HE institutions - from which we will be seeking accreditation. I’m fully confident that we can reach this outcome with the input of our many talented colleagues in the School over the next few years of the accreditation process.”

Full ratification and confirmation of the School’s membership takes place on 8 June 2015.
